Begin with the shirt, then choose the references
A fabric comparison is more useful when it starts with a particular shirt: fitted or relaxed, intended shade, collar construction and the way it will be worn. Asking which natural fiber is best without this brief can produce an answer that is too general for buying cloth.
The hemp category and pure linen category provide different fabric references. They are not universal performance grades. Keep the declared composition of each selected quality on the enquiry and do not replace one fiber description with another because two samples look similar.
Compare a named hemp quality with a named linen quality
HZ-DH-XH-001 lists 100% hemp, 155 GSM, 138 cm stated width and the construction reference 14×14 / 50×54. HZ-L-XH-001 lists 100% linen, 148 GSM, 138 cm stated width and 14×14 / 50×50.
These are two actual samples to discuss, not a controlled experiment with fiber type as the only changing factor. Preserve their construction references and confirm the sample finish. The relatively close listed weights do not prove equivalent coverage, sewing behavior or wash performance.
A lighter 105 GSM hemp reference is a separate option. Introducing it changes the comparison again. Explain whether you are exploring a light layer, an everyday shirt or another garment direction instead of treating every hemp option as a substitute for the same linen.
Make the shirt construction visible in the brief
Ask the garment maker to review how each candidate works with the intended collar, cuffs, placket and seams. Share whether the shirt will be lined, worn over another layer or expected to provide coverage on its own. Review actual shades under consistent conditions.
Use a physical sample to assess the surface and the way it hangs. If the design depends on a particular shape or movement, request enough material for the necessary garment trial. The normal starting sample length is not a promise that it will make a complete shirt in every size or pattern.
Separate evidence from broad fiber claims
Ask for the care and performance information applicable to the selected quality. Do not assume that either reference has a particular certification, lower environmental impact or guaranteed durability solely from the words hemp or linen. Any such purchasing requirement needs its own supporting evidence.
Record the observations with the SKU, shade and finish. An observation on one sample does not automatically apply to every color or future order. This article does not report laboratory tests or a universal winner between the two fibers.

Add the hemp and linen references to one inquiry. State the shirt design, colors, sample form and destination, and identify any specifications that cannot change.
