Fabric sourcing by end use

Choose fabric around the trouser and tailoring brief.

A relaxed trouser, a fitted waistband and an unstructured jacket ask different things of a fabric. Use these published references to start a sample round, then work with your garment maker on fit, construction and finishing. Hanzhong supplies the fabric from Shaoxing, China; this is not a made-to-measure garment service.

Start with the style you are making.

Relaxed trousers

Describe leg volume, waistband construction, color and whether the garment will be lined. Review drape and coverage with the actual pattern; a heavier number does not guarantee an opaque garment.

Light jackets and suiting

Explain the intended shoulder, lapel and front construction. Share whether the design uses interlining or a lining, and ask the garment maker to check how the sample behaves with those components.

Repeat production

Keep the approved SKU, shade, finish and garment trial together. If you are replacing an existing quality, identify what must match: appearance, usable width, construction behavior or another agreed requirement.

Resolve these points before bulk.

Pattern and cutting width

Ask whether the listed width includes selvedges. Use the confirmed usable width with the pattern and size mix to estimate metres, rather than treating GSM as a garment-consumption calculation.

Seams and wearing areas

Review the seat, knee, waistband and pocket construction in a garment trial. Specify any required seam, abrasion or recovery tests; this page does not report results or guarantee those properties.

Care and finishing

Confirm the proposed bulk finish and intended washing process. Request applicable shrinkage and colorfastness information for that quality and batch before final approval.

Does a 235 GSM blend automatically work better than 190 GSM linen?

No. These are different compositions and constructions, not two grades on a single quality scale. Compare their samples and choose against the garment requirements.

Can you quote from a trouser photograph?

A photograph helps explain shape and appearance, but it does not establish fiber percentages, width or finishing. Include a fabric reference, target specification, quantity per color and destination for a useful discussion.

Is one metre enough for a garment trial?

Our normal sample-length starting point is one metre. Ask your garment maker how much the actual trial needs and request a longer length if necessary; availability and charges are confirmed separately.

Include the intended style, colors, sample quantity, estimated bulk quantity per color and destination. Sample length is separate from a bulk minimum order.
